Introduction to Torque Application Tools
What Are They Used For?
Torque application tools are used to apply a set torque to a fastener. The tool will slip, break or click to signal to the operator that the set torque has been reached.
What Types Are There?
There are two main groups of torque application tools:
- tools that are preset
- tools that are adjustable by the operator.
Preset tools are ideal in environments that require the same torque to be applied to a fastener repeatedly. These types of tools are tamper proof and therefore ideal for use by operators who are not highly skilled.
The second type of application tool has a visible scale that allows the operator to adjust the tools to a desired torque setting. This type is ideal for use in areas where a range of different torque settings need to be applied.
What is Slipping Technology?
When the preset torque is reached the tool slips free, eliminating the possibility of over tightening fasteners. This technology offers the user reliable, accurate and repeatable torque control, by removing the responsibility from the operator and placing it in the hands of a reliable, repeatable mechanism.
